What The Hotel Cleaners Don’t Do
0It is easy to assume that hotel cleaners will do more or less the same things one would expect of a cleaner who comes to visit your own home. And yet the reality is that hotel cleaners are guided by strict regulations which actually prevent them from doing some things which could cause inconvenience. For example, cleaners are expected to make your bed. However, if you leave a number of items on your bed, this can prove very difficult, as they are not really supposed to touch or move your own items.
They may remove one or two items to make your bed, but if there are too many, they will simply be unable to do it, and have to either roughly tidy your bed up or leave it entirely. Similarly, if you leave a number of items around your bed, again they will be unable to move them, and will have to try to step over them, and this can cause inconvenience and prevent them from being able to make the bed effectively. How To Help Other People Looking For Hotels
0It’s often hard to know how to go about choosing a hotel for your holiday. The website and glossy brochures will portray the hotel as a fabulous location full of luxury and glamour, but what is it like really? When so much is at stake, both financially and also as far as your valuable holiday time is concerned, you want to make sure you are making the right choice, and the service, facilities, noise and general state of the hotel is up to a good standard. What is the food like? Is it good value for money? Are the staff friendly and helpful? These are things which are of great importance, but cannot be demonstrated in any way at all through a website or brochure.
The most reliable way of knowing which hotels are worth staying in is through a personal recommendation, and if a family member or friend has stayed somewhere and recommended it, this can help put your mind at rest, and help you make a choice. However, the chances that someone you happen to know has recently stayed at the same location you are planning to visit is unlikely, and this leaves you in a difficult situation. (more…)
Find the Right Hotel by Using the Internet
0Hotel is an alternative for people to live in, especially when they visit to other city or country. There are many types of hotel that you can choose. It depends on your needs and your budget.
If you go to Des Moines and you confused about finding a hotel, you can use the Internet to help you find more Des Moines hotels, which are available. You can also see all Green Bay hotels on the Internet. There are many sites that can help you by providing many lists of hotel based on certain categories. Or if you are planning to go to New York, you can visit the Rochester hotels site in order to help you to find the hotel that you want. When you find the hotel that you want, you can directly book a room. This is the other benefit of using the Internet, because you can do the booking process in a fast and easy way.
The Internet is very helpful for you, because you can find many things, include hotels. You can get the list of many hotels in certain location and also the comparison of the hotels. You can even read the reviews of the hotels, which can help you to make the right decision.
The Biggest Mistakes Made When Booking A Hotel
0When people book hotels, it is remarkable how much control the hotel has over the whole process. This really seems quite strange when you consider the vast number and range of hotels on offer, particularly in popular tourist locations, and that tourists themselves, especially those who plan well in advance, should have far greater bargaining power, since they have such a range of choice.
By and large, hotels use a number of tactics which encourage potential customers to make a reservation or purchase without knowing the full story. For example, let us take the price of a reservation of a hotel room. If you have ever booked a hotel room yourself, ask yourself what price you paid. Was it the price the hotel listed? Or did you manage to achieve some kind of discount?
The chances are you simply paid the price they advertised, and yet when you consider the fact that they are providing a service, there is much room for negotiation. You have little to lose by trying. Hotels have their prices based on the assumption that some visitors will barter and get the price reduced. Sometimes this can be as much as a 40% discount. In other cases, free upgrades from a standard room to a luxurious room can also be achieved. The fact that most customers don’t bother, or don’t realise that there is room for negotiation is simply an advantage to the hotel.
It is also worth considering that in the same way estate agents look for the selling points of a property, and gloss over any of the negative issues, hotels will ensure they present to you all of their benefits without revealing any drawbacks. If the hotel declares that it is conveniently situated in the town centre, does that mean that it is sandwiched between the late night clubs that will prevent you from ever getting any sleep? Perhaps it is a stone’s throw from the beach? This can mean that it is indeed very close to the beach as the crow flies, as long as the crow flies vertically downwards. There may be no mention of the fact that the hotel is as the top of a cliff, and to reach the beach will require a significant hike.
Hotels offering views of the beach are most likely hiding the fact that they are miles from the beach, but high up enough to be able to catch a glimpse.
So when booking a hotel, the first mistake to avoid making is to assume that the price is fixed, and look to try to pay no more than 60% of the asking price, although you may need to rise to 80% or even 90% in some cases.
The second mistake to avoid is to accept the glossy descriptions of the hotel, and instead ask incisive questions if necessary, and try to locate customer reviews, especially if you have located the hotel through an online website. A quick search online for the hotel name may provide example reviews from previous residents. This will give you a much more honest impression of the value for money, the convenience and level of service.
Hotels And The Greedy Middle Man
0When you book your hotel room online, especially if you are using a comparison website, you may assume that you are getting the best deal, and frequently I have heard people boasting of the price they paid for their hotel room having gone through such a comparison site. In reality, they have simply got what they paid for and anyone can easily find hotels that charge much less if they are prepared have the hotel located somewhere fairly inaccessible or which provides relatively few facilities.
The reality is however that the comparison site is merely a third party agent and will therefore be charging a commission rate for the privilege of giving you a low price. If you were to go straight to the hotel and cut out the middle man then the hotel should be perfectly happy to charge you the advertised rate minus the commission that the third party would have received.
Even worse than these comparison sites are travel agents. Not only will travel agents charge an even bigger commission and therefore inflate the price even more, but in order to get the best commission they are more likely to suggest hotels which are more expensive that others in the area which may reduce the amount the agent will earn.
So, regardless of whether you go to a travel agent who seems friendly and helpful, or a comparison site which seems honest and up front about getting you the best deal, it is always going to be the case that going straight to the hotel itself and cutting out these middle men third party agents, you should at least be able to get the price you would have paid through these third parties, with the commission which would have been charged knocked off. Typically this can be as much as ten per cent.
However, another advantage of cutting out the middle men is that you have access to the people who you will actually paying directly, and therefore have the opportunity to negotiate the price. The third parties will not carry out negotiations for you, and will simply charge the published price. It is very rare that a hotel will refuse to move on such a price, and by going to them directly you can sometimes find it is possible to get a reduction on the advertised price by as much as forty per cent.
The only time when sometimes a third party agent can be of benefit are those sites becoming more popular in recent times which allow you to book a certain type and room or hotel within a hotel, but without specifying the exact one. What these sites do is book last minute reservations on your behalf at hotels in the area which have a spare room, and by booking in this way at the last minute, substantially discounted rates can be achieved. It is of course quite possible for you to do the exact same thing yourself. But the advantage that these sites have is that they already have in place a large directory of contacts that they can use to ensure they are able to find a location for you, whereas doing this yourself could result in you failing to find any at all.
